Arnold Print Works was said to be established in 1861, but the corporation with the name Arnold Print Works was not formed until 1876. Before it was named Arnold Print Works it was named Arnold Harvey and Co. The company was founded by Harvey, Oliver and John F. Arnold. The head of the company was Harvey Arnold. In 1874 Honorable Albert C. Houghton bought interest into the company and then two years later Arnold Print works was initially formed.  Besides Arnold Print Works main building, there were four other mills in different towns. Arnold Print Works was an essential part in North Adams' industry during its early stages of industrialization.
